CACTI Workshop 2026

Workshop Scope and Scientific Programme
The scope of the workshop includes trace gas and aerosol composition responses to changes in natural and/or anthropogenic emission changes, air quality, radiative forcing, global and regional climate responses to emission perturbations, and climate feedbacks on trace gases and aerosols. Contributions on atmospheric composition process representation, model evaluation, as well as Earth system interactions are also in scope. We anticipate that the workshop will be of interest to those working on model intercomparison projects (MIPs) and community projects such as HTAP, CCMI, TOAR, and Aerocom, as well as CMIP7 community MIPs such as DAMIP, AerChemMIP and RFMIP.
A preliminary agenda is now available. The workshop will feature scientific presentations and discussion sessions organized around the themes of Radiative Forcing, Climate Response and Feedbacks, and Atmospheric Composition and Air Quality.
Registration and Abstract Submissions
Registration and abstract submission for the 2026 CACTI workshop can be completed via the “link” before the deadline on "date".
Travel and Accommodation
The next CACTI workshop will take place on Monday 14th September and Tuesday 15th September 2026 in person at the Technical University of Crete (Chania, Crete, Greece) and online.
Chania is the main city in the western part of Crete. The city has its own international airport with flights arriving/departing from/to several European cities, and of course from Athens. Another option is to fly to/from Heraklion airport which is located in central Crete (city of Heraklion) and is ~2 hours from Chania by bus or car. For CACTI attendees who are going to attend the IGAC conference the week before, logistically it would make good sense to arrive in Crete at Heraklion before IGAC and depart from Crete from Chania after CACTI. But doing both trips to/from Chania or to/from Heraklion would of course work too (with just the extra bit of 2-hour bus trip between the two cities).
The Technical University of Crete campus is located ~10’ from the Chania airport by taxi/car and 10-20’ from Chania city (depending on traffic) by bus/taxi/car. There is a regular bus service from the city centre to the campus.
