To assess the progress towards the Paris Agreement goals, cities often develop their own greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and methodologies of emission reporting. However, the consistency, quality and accuracy of these methods are not systematically assessed and often their spatial and temporal resolution are not adequate to inform urban planning decisions.

This talk will introduce an observation-based method to monitor urban CO2 fluxes combining bottom-up models with Eddy Covariance observations. Such approach can be used as an independent reference to urban inventories and as a tool for sustainable urban planning.
