Maximilian May and co-authors have simulated high-resolution meteorological fields using the nested transport models GRAMM/GRAL and evaluated the model performance at 15 measurement stations for an entire year. They suggest an improved method for hourly selecting the best matching wind field from the GRAMM/GRAL catalogue and confirm a good performance of horizontal wind fields at building resolving scale in a complex topographic and urban setting. The reasonable computational cost and good performance suggest that GRAMM/GRAL may be a useful tool for studying mitigation in cities.
