Workshop Girls’ Day 2026 at the Institute of Environmental Physics
On 23 April 2026, the Institute of Environmental Physics participated in the Girls’ Day organized by the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy. A total of 140 schoolgirls gained insights into current research topics and experienced physics in a variety of ways.
Several groups from IUP also contributed workshops and demonstrated how physical methods can be used to better understand processes in the atmosphere, climate, and environment. In the welcoming presentation, Sanam Vardag also shared insights into her own path into research and highlighted how exciting and socially relevant environmental physics can be. Lisa Moraw, Master’s student at IUP, also contributed a video in which she took the participants along through a typical day in her life as a Master’s student, offering a personal impression of studying and doing research at IUP.

Girls’ Day gave the students the opportunity to try things out for themselves, ask questions, and experience research up close. We thank everyone involved for their commitment and look forward to Girls’ Day 2027.
