Simulated speleothems

Niklas has conducted his Bachelorthesis exploring different speleothem shape models. The goal was to couple for the first time an Earth - System Model to a speleothem chemical model (here CaveCalc) and to predict the shape of a speleothem through times of major climate change. A well studied speleothem from Sofular cave in Turkey was used as an example. Our first attempt to watch stones growth was successful thanks to the support of Thomas Kleinen from MPI - Hamburg and Georg Kaufman - Berlin. Congratulation Niklas for a truely outstanding Bachelorthesis that we can hopefully soon publish in an appropriate scientific journal.
