Simon Steidle and his coworkers have published sealevel reconstructions using speleothems retrieved from submerged caves in the northeastern Yucatán Peninsula (Mexico). These speleothems grew during the Middle to Late Quaternary and 230Th-U dates provide limits for past cave flooding through sea levels increases. The first relative sea-level limits for Marine Isotope Stages (MIS) 11 and 6 are reported as well as new evidence for sea-level oscillations during MIS 5 and early MIS 1.
We congratulate Simon for this excellent publication, which appeared online this week in the Journal of Quaternary Science
