Current projects and research interests:

  • Advancement of quantitative applications for Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) in soil hydrology

  • Development of high-resolution, high-precision GPR observation methods of subsurface water dynamics for soil physical parameter estimation

  • Operation of our group's ASSESS field testsite

  • Implementation of a motorized measurement system for automated dual-frequency GPR observations at the ASSESS field site

Former projects:

  • Ground-Penetrating Radar measurements of field-scale soil moisture for remote sensing applications, mostly in the framework of the following projects:

    • RECAST Urumqi (2008-2013), in cooperation with the XIEG, CAS, Urumqi, V.R. China. Some impressions from our field campaigns in the Urumqi region can be found here or over at the RECAST website.

    • Watershed Allied Telemetry Experimental Research (WATER, 2008-2010), in cooperation with the CAREERI, CAS, Lanzhou, V.R. China.

  • Longterm monitoring of permafrost at Svalbard, in cooperation with the AWI Potsdam (2007).
